In previous years we have investigated ways to demonstrate and quantify how companies can contribute to the regional quality of nature and landscape. Therefore in the Green Forest region (near Eindhoven, NL) we have developed a system for companies that want to join a local brand to quantify their efforts on various sustainability issues. In 2011 and 2012 we translated this approach into a system that makes it possible for estates to communicate their social services. In 2013 we were challenged by Wageningen UR to develop a system that will help estates maintain new revenue models that are set in their historical nature and landscape qualities. The introduction of a new subsidy scheme for nature and landscape management in the Netherlands leads to lower fees for estate owners. Additional sources of income are required. Since each estate is unique, it is important to align the specific characteristics of each estate with their (multiple) tenants.
